The programme aims to realize the following long term change: <br />
Reinforced, inclusive and resilient communities with an empowered civil society, positively influence governance and transparency of decentralized entities; they work together with others (CDM) to resolve conflicts and to assure inclusion of youth, women and marginalized groups; they assure inclusive and equitable access to sustainable livelihoods, especially for youth, women and marginalized groups and they will thus stabilize the intervention zone.<br />

The wider objective of the project is to improve the municipal organization of Beira (CMB) in order for the city to better fulfil their role as a municipality in general, in particular their role within the Beira Master Plan (BMP). <br />

The specific objective is to enable the Municipality of Beira to organize and improve their land planning and management systems and performance, in terms of (a) technical capacities as well as (b) organizational performance. <br />

The Ghana Tax Revenue for Economic Enhancement (TREE) project focuses on local revenue collection in 33 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in de Ashanti Region, Central Region and Western Region. Ghanaian legislation empowers MMDAs to collect revenues from a range of sources to complement central government transfers.<br />

Uganda saw a huge influx of refugees escaping conflict and famine, doubling Uganda's refugee population to an estimated 1.4 million refugees; over 1.000.000 of whom are South Sudanese and the number is still rising. The mass influx over the last year, is placing an enormous strain on the already stressed ability of District Local Governments (DLGs) to enhance social and economic development and deliver social services to the people, such as water and sanitation, waste management, health care and education. <br />

The wider objective of the project is increased economic development & growth in South African mining towns.<br />

The specific objective is for Local Authorities to actively engage partners to co-implement mining Social & Labour Plans (SLP) projects.<br />

The expected results of the project are: <br />
1: Increased capacity of LAs to engage with mining companies.<br />
2: Improved capacity of LAs to empower community members for effective public participation.<br />

This programme aimed to increase the performance of public administration, police and justice system at local level and to restore the interaction between these state elements and society, among state and non-state institutions, creating a positive development spiral. Enhanced performance contributed to increased confidence in state elements, reinforcing state legitimacy, decreasing popular discontent and diminishing the urge to “take the law into one's own hands”.

The programme contributed to increased human security in greater Wau and greater Torit through interlinking and strengthening community-based peace building initiatives, decentralised government services and socio-economic peace dividend.<br />

The wider objective of the project is to increase and improve Non State Actors (NSA) role in the national development and democratisation process in Ethiopia. To this effect, CSF II will<br />
provide grant and non-grant support to beneficiary civil society organisations so as to strengthen their resource capacities, their constituency, accountability and sustainability of operations, and hence, to increase their participation and contribution in key areas of governance and socioeconomic development. <br />

The wider objective of the project is to contribute to the economic and social dimensions of human development, based on the principles of good governance.<br />

The specific objective is to fight poverty in rural areas through raised sustainability of investments in social infrastructure, and strengthened local governance. Crosscutting themes such as gender need to be taken into account.<br />

The Water for Lakes State programme is part of the broader bilateral program for water and sanitation between South Sudan and The Netherlands. It is designed to stimulate economic development in agriculture, livestock and fisheries and to reduce the dependency on food aid in Lakes State, through equitable development and management of natural resources. The proposed diversification of livelihoods and economic stimuli will improve community well-being and move young people away from a war mentality. <br />
