Citizens in the Arab world often experience a wide gap between them and the central government. In our projects in Egypt and Jordan, I have experienced first hand that local governments can fill this gap and make a meaningful contribution to the wellbeing of their citizens. This strongly motivates me to, through our projects, keep contributing to the strenghtening of local authorities in the Arab region over the coming years.
