The wider objective of the project is to contribute to enhanced resilience of the leeward islands to deal with future disasters after hurricane Irma in 2017. The specific objective of the project is provide assistance to the Ministry of Public Housing, Spatial Planning, Environment and Infrastructure (VROMI) and specifically its permits department, department of domain affairs and inspection department.

The expected results of the project are:
- Improved capacities of VROMI's Permits Eepartment in handling the backlog in permit requests;

Following the Hurricane that struck St. Maarten, Saba and St. Eustatius on September 6 2017, Dutch municipalities contacted their Association of Netherlands Municipalities (VNG) to define a common response to support the islands. VNG called upon its members to donate to the fundraising campaign of the Netherlands Red Cross (NLRC) and they agreed to work together in the recovery phase. <br />

The wider objective of the project was to reduce the basic causes of fragility in both La Macarena Colombia and the municipalities of Santo Domingo Xenacoj (Sacatepequez) and Parramos (Chimaltenango) in Guatemala and improve the security in these municipalities.<br />

The specific objectives (outcomes and intervention strategies) were:<br />
1. Access to the justice system<br />
2. Settlement and citizen security<br />
3. Participation of the rural inhabitants in municipal governance<br />

Objective: institutional capacity building of the Association of Municipalities of Nicaragua (AMUNIC) to help municipalities in local economic development and securing food. <br />
