The overall aim of the action was to support the development of participatory and accountable local governance in Myanmar. This aim was achieved through an innovative and focused approach targeting key stakeholders in TR region.<br />

Specific objective 1: Enhanced capacities of local authorities (LAs) of TR in participatory development planning and accountable financial management processes.<br />
The wider objective of the project is to support and enable poor rural communities to benefit from improved communication and access to local and government services, within the context of the National Community Driven Development Project.<br />

The wider objective of the project was to foster stability, democratic practices and economic development by increasing the capacity and accountability of sub-national government.<br />

The specific objectives of LGP was to enhance USAID's assistance to the Government of Tajikistan in implementation of its 2009 Law On Self-Government Bodies in Towns and Villages. On the sub-national level, the project aimed to improve local government's capacity in delivering communal services to citizens, particularly clean drinking water. <br />

The specific objective: Improved functioning of DAOs at township and state/region level in Chin State and Tanintharyi Region.<br />

Oc(1) strengthened capacities of township DAOs/DACs in planning, budgeting and revenue generation.<br />
Oc(2): Improved ability of township DAOs/DACs to deliver quality services for priority areas.<br />
