After a request for assistance in tackling a waste management and treatment challenge of the municipality of Ziniaré (Burkina Faso), Evolis23, an already existing partner of the municipality, applied to CONNECT. That is how this CONNECT exchange came about, which showed a new side of CONNECT: to let existing collaborations flourish.
The wider objective of the project is to facilitate the operationalisation of the Integrated Water Management through the development of synergies between non-state actors in all their diversity whilst implementing concrete actions concerning inclusive floods management. <br />

The specific objectives are linked to the three components of the programme: Decentralisation (Outcome 1), Local Economic Development (Outcome 2) and Participation & Accountability (Outcome 3).<br />

The aim of the joint pilot programme is to set up innovative projects in distinct urban environments, which aim to test and explore innovative forms of inclusive democratic urban governance in fragile and conflict-affected environments that contribute to reducing or preventing conflicts by tackling pressing social issues in an inclusive and integrated way. <br />

The project Libya Local Governance and Stabilization is funded by the European Union with the participation of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This project is implemented in three years, starting in December 2015, and will cover 22 municipalities in the South, East and West of Libya. It advances the argument that it is possible to create traction at the local level for improved governance, to the benefit of stabilization and creating conditions for future reconstruction.<br />

The wider objective of the project was to enhance the participation of Local Authorities (LAs) and Association of Local Authorities (ALA) in Zimbabwe's public policies and programs as a way of contributing to a more equitable, open and democratic society.<br />

Overall Objective:<br />
The overall objective of the Action was to support the Government of Egypt in its efforts to develop and apply good governance principles which should be reflected in improved services to the Egyptian citizens and deepened citizens' engagement at local levels.<br />

Specific Objectives of the project were:<br />
1-Strengthening the capacity of the Government of Egypt to improve and measure performance of administrations delivering public services to citizens. <br />
The overall objective of the TA operation is to contribute to improvement in the quality of shelter and<br />
more general enhancement in living conditions for the urban poor, and the creation of employment<br />
opportunities for the latter. Although the focus is primarily urban, other spatially disadvantaged<br />
communities are not excluded.<br />

The wider objective of the project was to build the capacity of local governments in Eastern Equatoria State to translate national level policies to the state and county level in order to develop and better manage the WASH facilities and services and meet local needs in a sustainable manner. In doing this, the infrastructural development efforts under the wider Water for Eastern Equatoria State project (managed by Niras) was strengthened and local governments were institutionally prepared for taking over management responsibilities of provided infrastructure.
The Consortium's overall objective is to improve the security and overall stabilization of the intervention zones. This is addressed through inclusive dialogue structures that address drivers of conflict and support social cohesion and through policies that improve the functioning of key state institutions and reinforce state legitimacy. <br />
