The programme contributed to increased human security in greater Wau and greater Torit through interlinking and strengthening community-based peace building initiatives, decentralised government services and socio-economic peace dividend.

The programme contributed to this outcome through the following outputs:

1. The programme improved the capacity of local government actors to deliver on human security and development objectives, as well as the capacity to cooperate with external stakeholders in line with the GRSS decentralisation framework – e.g. through trainings and workshops for local government staff and legislative officials at state, county and boma level
2. The programme improved capacity of community-based peacebuilding actors to deliver on human security and development objectives, as well as the capacity to cooperate with external stakeholders in providing inclusive services and holding government actors accountable – e.g. through trainings of CBOs and CSOs in project management, theories of change, diversification of funds, lobby & advocacy, etc.
3. The programme improved capacity of local government actors and community-based peacebuilding actors to coherently cooperate with external stakeholders through establishing interfaces and structural models of consultation and cooperation on human security and development issues – e.g. the establishment of multi-stakeholder committees that coordinate implementation of community resolutions related to the agro-pastoralist conflict in Wau, Gogrial and Tonj
4. Socio-economic conditions were improved and peace dividend was established through programme interventions, as prerequisites for sustainable human security and development – e.g. through setting up community savings and loans mechanisms as well as vocational trainings for youth and support to farmers in the form of trainings and tools
5. The socio-economic position of women was improved through programme interventions to foster the role of women in peace processes and economic development – e.g. through sensitization of local government officials (county/boma level) on gender issues; support to women self-help groups; involving women in the follow up of local peace dialogues; facilitating female entrepreneurs
6. The programme improved the capacity of national level stakeholders to cooperate with external stakeholders and to align with national level policy and international programming regarding the link between peacebuilding and decentralization.
