The wider objective of the project is to contribute to enhanced resilience of the leeward islands to deal with future disasters after hurricane Irma in 2017. The specific objective of the project is provide assistance to the Ministry of Public Housing, Spatial Planning, Environment and Infrastructure (VROMI) and specifically its permits department, department of domain affairs and inspection department.
The expected results of the project are:
- Improved capacities of VROMI's Permits Eepartment in handling the backlog in permit requests;
The aim of the joint pilot programme is to set up innovative projects in distinct urban environments, which aim to test and explore innovative forms of inclusive democratic urban governance in fragile and conflict-affected environments that contribute to reducing or preventing conflicts by tackling pressing social issues in an inclusive and integrated way. <br />

In this project, VNG International focuses specifically on the development of public spaces and green infrastructure in the municipalities of Sarhan, Bal'ama and Um Al Jimmal, all located in the Mafraq region / Governorate. <br />

Overall objective: The development of new public green spaces via green infrastructure measures, which enhances locals' and refugees' quality of life and wellbeing. <br />
The general scope for the Prize is to reward innovative activities and initiatives that support conflict prevention, peace-building, post-conflict reconstruction and reconciliation.<br />
The wider objective of the project is to provide support to twenty-five selected municipalities in the decentralisation and communal development plan. <br />

The specific objectives are as follows: Firstly, to provide individual support to the twenty-five selected municipalities according to their existing capacities and needs, with the additional goal of integrating climate change in their annual planning and its implementation. Secondly, to provide support to the training center for municipal administration (CeFAL). <br />

The project Libya Local Governance and Stabilization is funded by the European Union with the participation of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This project is implemented in three years, starting in December 2015, and will cover 22 municipalities in the South, East and West of Libya. It advances the argument that it is possible to create traction at the local level for improved governance, to the benefit of stabilization and creating conditions for future reconstruction.<br />
